Pediatric Intensive Therapy Program:

Initial clinical case studies suggest that intensive therapy programs lead to measurable functional improvements in children's motor progress. SKY Pediatric Therapy's intensive therapy program is based on the European approach, which includes specific treatment techniques involving the Therasuit™ and Universal Exercise Unit (UEU). Our experienced therapists use their specialized pediatric training to complement all aspects of the program.

SKY's 3-week pediatric intensive therapy program can benefit children with a variety of diagnoses, including ataxia, athetosis, cerebral palsy, developmental delays, hypotonia (low muscle tone), post stroke (CVA) impairment, and traumatic brain injury.

Benefits of Therasuit:

  • Aligns body for correct posture and movement patterns
  • Assists with regulation of abnormal muscle tone
  • Improves balance and coordination
  • Improves processing of body awareness in space by the vestibular system
  • Provides tactile and proprioceptive stimulation
  • Supports weak muscles
  • Provides resistance for strengthening
  • Facilitates development of gross and fine motor skills

Benefits of UEU:

  • Increased muscle strength, flexibility, and range of motion
  • Improves balance, coordination and sensory motor integration
  • Promotes dynamic motor-skills development
  • Isolates muscles for specific movements to help the brain relearn
  • Refines responses necessary for acquiring new motor skills and promoting independent movement

Policy :

The Pediatric intensive therapy session consists of 3-4 hours per day, 5 days per week, for 3 weeks. This is a big commitment, but is necessary to obtain the full benefit of the therapy session. Please only schedule your session during a time when you know there will not be any scheduling conflict on your part.

The Intake Form must be completed and returned to this office. Please be as thorough as possible so that we have a better understanding of your child’s needs.  This form will be mailed, faxed, or e-mailed to you upon request.  Please return the form by mail, fax, or email. Please also submit a written report regarding recent (within the last 6 months) hip x-rays, specifically an A/P view of your child’s hips to rule out hip subluxation or dislocation.
